Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15.07.2026

This Privacy Policy explains how ASTECH SOFT SRL (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use the Bible Seed mobile app and our website at https://thebibleseed.com (together, the “Service”). It applies wherever you use Bible Seed in the world and should be read together with our Cookie Policy.

Bible Seed is a devotional app. Because it involves your faith, some of the information we handle — such as your confession and the reflections you write in your journal — reveals your religious beliefs. This is a special category of personal data, and we treat it with particular care, as described below.

We aim to comply with the strictest applicable standards, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (“CCPA”), Brazil’s LGPD, Canada’s PIPEDA, and applicable Romanian law.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is ASTECH SOFT SRL, 94 Inatesti Street , Ramnicu Valcea , Valcea, 240011 , Romania, registered under no. 43915708 (Tax ID RO43915708). For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at support@thebibleseed.com.

If we are ever required to appoint a Data Protection Officer or an EU/UK representative, their contact details will be published here.

2. The data we process

Data you provide

  • Profile and preferences — a display name (if you choose to give one), your chosen confession or tradition, reminder times, language and reading preferences.

  • Religious and spiritual data — your confession, your journal entries and reflections, your daily deeds/callings and their history, and any spiritual intentions you record. This reveals your religious beliefs and is a special category of data.

  • Voice journaling (premium) — if you use voice journaling, the audio you record, which is transcribed to text and then handled as a journal entry.

  • Support communications — the content of messages you send us for help.

  • Account linking — if you choose to save your journey, the email address you link (directly, or through Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple) and the associated account identifier. Linking an account is optional; Bible Seed works without one.

Data collected automatically

  • Device and technical data — a device or app identifier (which may include an advertising identifier, Android ID or similar device identifier), device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, general country or region, and, if you enable notifications, a push-notification token.

  • Usage and diagnostics — how you interact with the Service (screens viewed, features used, session information) and crash or error reports, collected to keep the Service reliable and to improve it.

Data from purchases

  • Subscription data — your plan, subscription and order status, and a pseudonymous app-user identifier. Payment is processed by Apple, Google or our payment provider; we never receive or store your full card number.

3. Data minimisation, and privacy by design

We collect only the personal data that is necessary to provide and improve Bible Seed. We do not request information that is unrelated to the operation of the Service, and we regularly review the data we process to ensure that it remains adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.

Bible Seed is developed according to the principles of Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default (Article 25 GDPR). Privacy considerations are integrated into the design of new features, and default settings are configured to collect and process only the data necessary for the intended purpose.

4. Sources of personal data

We collect personal data:

  • directly from you, when you set up or use the Service;

  • automatically from your device, when you use the app or website;

  • from Apple or Google, regarding your subscription and purchase status;

  • from our payment providers, regarding order and payment status;

  • from Firebase services, for analytics, crash reporting and notifications.

5. Special-category (religious) data — explicit consent

Because Bible Seed necessarily reveals information about your religious beliefs, we process this special-category data only on the basis of your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR), which we request clearly inside the app before this data is processed. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see Section 12); withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it, and you can delete your journal and spiritual data at any time from within the app.

Providing this information is entirely voluntary. If you choose not to provide religious information, some personalised devotional features may not be available.

6. Why we process your data, and our legal bases

  • To provide the core Service (daily callings, verses, journal, liturgical calendar, sacred-image gallery) — performance of our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)); for religious data, your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a)).

  • To provide premium features (voice journaling, personalized sacred images, the yearly book, extended content) — contract and consent, as above.

  • To send reminders and notifications you enable — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); you can turn them off at any time.

  • To handle payments, subscriptions, orders and support — performance of a contract and our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).

  • To keep the Service secure, reliable and free of abuse — our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

  • To comply with the law (e.g. accounting and tax records, responding to lawful requests) — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).

7. AI features and transparency

To generate personalized sacred images and to transcribe premium voice journals, we send the necessary content to Google’s Gemini API, acting as our processor, under terms that prohibit using your content to train their models and that require its deletion after processing.

We do not use your journal entries, prayers, reflections, voice recordings or other personal content to train generative AI models.

Our AI features never make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you, and all devotional and spiritual content is subject to human theological review before it forms part of the Service. AI-generated content is intended to support your devotional experience and should not be considered spiritual, theological, legal, medical or professional advice.

8. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We share data only with service providers (“processors”) who act on our instructions under a data-processing agreement, including:

  • Apple and Google — app distribution and in-app purchase billing;

  • RevenueCat — subscription management;

  • Google (Firebase) — push notifications, analytics, crash reporting and real-time delivery;

  • Google (Gemini API) — AI image generation and voice transcription;

  • Cloudflare — storage, security and content delivery;

  • Stripe — payment processing for purchases made outside the app stores;

  • our hosting and payment providers — to run the Service and process purchases.

A current list of our main processors may be requested by contacting us at support@thebibleseed.com. We disclose personal data to public authorities only where required by law, or where necessary to protect our legal rights or the safety of users. We may also disclose data in connection with a merger or acquisition, in which case we will notify you.

9. International data transfers

We are based in Romania (EU) and our Service is available worldwide, so your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — a copy of which you can request at support@thebibleseed.com.

10. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Service. Your journal and spiritual data are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Order, subscription and accounting records are kept for the periods required by law. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

11. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time, directly from within the app (My place → Delete Account) or by emailing support@thebibleseed.com. Deletion removes your account record and personal data, including your journal and spiritual data, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (such as tax and transaction records).

Please note that deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play; you should cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings. If you use “Sign in with Apple”, we revoke the associated token as part of deletion.

12. Your rights

Wherever you live, we honour the following rights. Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; rectify inaccurate data; erase your data (“right to be forgotten”); restrict or object to processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (including for religious-data processing and notifications) without affecting prior processing. You also have the right not to be subject to automated decision-making where Article 22 GDPR applies.

Under the CCPA and comparable U.S. state laws, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing.” We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, so no opt-out action is required; we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right. Similar rights apply under Brazil’s LGPD and Canada’s PIPEDA.

To exercise any right, contact support@thebibleseed.com; the app also provides in-product controls to review and delete your content and to delete your account. You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP, dataprotection.ro); in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO, ico.org.uk); or with the authority in your country or state of residence.

13. Children and young people

Bible Seed is intended for users aged 14 and over, although younger users may use the Service under the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian where permitted by applicable law. It is not directed to young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the age of digital consent that applies to them — which is 13 in the United States (COPPA), 16 in the United Kingdom and in several EU states (including Romania), and as otherwise set by local law — without the consent of a holder of parental responsibility.

If you believe a child has provided us personal data without the required consent, contact us at support@thebibleseed.com and we will delete it promptly.

14. Automated decision-making

We do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal effects or similarly significantly affects you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

15. How we protect your data

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encryption of sensitive fields at rest, encryption-key management, access controls, and data minimisation. We regularly review our security measures, monitor and log access to systems, apply the principle of least privilege, and carry out periodic security reviews. No system can be perfectly secure, but we work continuously to keep your data safe.

16. Data breaches

In the event of a personal-data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, and where required by law, we will notify the competent supervisory authority within the applicable legal deadlines, and affected users without undue delay.

17. Cookies and similar technologies

Information about cookies and similar technologies used in the app and on the website is available in our separate Cookie Policy.

18. “Do Not Track” signals

Because there is no universally accepted standard for browser “Do Not Track” signals, Bible Seed does not currently respond to them. We do not track you across other websites or apps for advertising in any case.

19. Consistency with app-store disclosures

This Policy is designed to be consistent with the privacy information we provide in the Apple App Store (App Privacy) and Google Play (Data Safety). If you notice any apparent discrepancy, please contact us and we will clarify and correct it.

20. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app or on the website before it takes effect. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. Older versions of this Privacy Policy may be made available upon request.
